Fiction Editing

As a fiction editor, it’s my job to ensure both your story and your words are the best they can be. Beginning with the editorial assessment, I’ll help you spot plot holes, character inconsistencies, pacing issues, and any number of other common or not-so-common challenges fiction writers face.

After the manuscript critique (editorial assessment), we move into the developmental edit. It is an examination of all the elements of your writing, from single words and the phrasing of individual sentences to overall structure and style. It usually addresses “bigger picture” issues, like plot holes or gaps, problematic characterization, pacing issues, head-hopping, etc.

Onto the line edit, I’ll go through your work with a magnifying glass, focusing on style, syntax, and writing flow. Throughout the process I’ll be a reliable, supportive, member of your writing team – someone committed to ensuring your story is everything you always knew it could be.

Editorial Assesment

I’ll go through the manuscript and hone in on problem areas relating to big-picture issues like plot holes, character inconsistencies, and thematic elements.

Developmental Editing

As your developmental editor, I’ll help you create a structure and writing schedule that will ensure you get the novel locked inside your head onto the page.

Line Editing

Going line by line to examine syntax, sentence structure, and the novel as a living, breathing work of words. I’ll help you to refine your book until it is everything you always knew it could be.

Griffin edited my 100K word manuscript without sacrificing quality to meet the time crunch. He pointed out the flaws and strengths in plotting, narrative and character development. He gave clear explanations and suggestions on how I may make the story more complete or engaging to the reader. I definitely look forward to working with him again in the future.
